Ethnological Forgery Series Redux?

Posted almost 5 years ago

I just heard a few tracks from this collective called Kemialliset Ystävät (Finnish for "Chemical Friends")and started looking into them. Apparently they have 40+ recordings in their discography and have been around since 1995.

From what I've heard so far, this stuff has the same kind of feel and flow as the Ethnological Forgery series which CAN would excerpt in their releases. Tons of playing with different instrumentation and found sounds, and the spirit of these sessions are playful and open.

Lots of imagination here and while not every track is a keeper, there are lots of great pieces to be found throughout their output.

They are on FONAL recordings (sometimes)and this is their websitemp3 from The WIRE magazine

  1. Kate says Sounds very intriguing! I think CAN's EFS is genius, and anyone willing to infuse modern music with that kind of wit and whimsy is worthy of attention.
