MONDAY, MARCH 31, 2008
Grace Potter & The Nocturnals Kick Off Sun Studio Sessions Sun Studio is happy to announce some exciting news. To carry on the great musical legacy created here at 706 Union Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee we are launching a new web video program called "Sun Studio Sessions" featuring today's rising stars performing in the very room where Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Howlin' Wolf and many other greats recorded their very first hits.
Sun Studio is proud to have the amazing Grace Potter and the Nocturnals as our very first Sun Studio Sessions artists. This critically acclaimed band from Vermont who has been touring in support of their latest release This Is Somewhere tracked seven songs over the course of a very fun night for us (and as you'll see from the videos for them too!), all of which we'll share with you over the next several weeks.
We have some terrific aritsts lined up and beginning next Monday, April 7, 2008 we will publish a new Sun Studio Sessions "webisode" every Monday, Wednesday and Friday right here on our blog. Come back to see those clips and bring your friends!!
Meanwhile, you can view a preview webisode below with Grace and friends ripping through a raucous version of "Mystery Train."

I find myself using the word "Incredible" with this band a lot,we need more words to describe just how amazing this group of Vermonters really is.So cool that they get to be the first of many bands to be in this new program, you can feel the excitment in the room. Just Incredible!

Thanks, TipiBoy. The stop-start nature of the video kind of derailed the song's momentum, but anything Grace and her band wants to do is okay with me. I think I liked her solo piano version of Mary, Mary you posted a while back better but this gives a real feel for why a growing number of us really like this band. BerkBob

To be a fly on That wall Charley ... Oh ... And I think they bought shirts

I've gotten a smooth playback ... And the stop-start ... Guess I'm used to it online. But great to hear you like the band ... I'm so all in ... Good to know it's not Just me.

too cool for words.

Okay - I'll put a few more words out there, twist my arm. Believe it's already been posted that GPTN is an appropriate band to kick off these "Sun Sessions". I just couldn't agree more. This young band is so very good at taking the best of the great old R&B roots and taking it and making it their own - proud of them for sure. And - did you see Scott's smile when talking about being in that studio - well, it that for real quality that they have combined with their impressive talent that makes them the band I like to follow.

Can't wait to hear more . . .

snowbird ... Right as they're about to kick it of ... When she says "How about we all start at once like we used to ... Except maybe me!" ... might be a glamazon ... But no diva.

As you'd say yourself Tipi - sho you right! The geniuneness of each band member is part of why we like them - and it all comes through in the their music. When you see a clip like this - well, it's a real nice window into what goes into that behind this music we rave about -

All I can say - again is

Please, can I hear (and see) some more!
