BENEVENTO/RUSSO DUO A pair of bandits covered on August 03, 2006, the Benevento/Russo Duo were one of the early artist to grant us a video interview here at Roving Festival Writer. Almost two years later, the Duo are just as strong as ever and we have decided to make them our third featured artist of the 2008 Langerado Music Festival.
Over at WEMU 89.1, Derrick Mallory has been making sure our Duo and Marco Benevento album collection has been up to date, and I am happy to report... they are some AWESOME recordings. I just melted for a couple days over the three disk Live @ Tonic series by Marco. Just superb, new jazz recordings and that is what this generation needs. Something new. Different. Stretch those parameters. Last night, I made sure to play the first track "Becky" from the Duo's recording Best Reason to Buy the Sun in light of the coming performance; moreover, featured some Grace Potter and the Nocturnals as well. How does that relate?

Well, if you didn't know (and now you don't need to ask somebody), GP and the Duo are going on a 10 show tour in 12 days - together! Beginning March 03 in VA, each band will be playing FULL SETS, EVERY NIGHT, alternating the headlining position. How fantastic. Tickets prices... a mere $15 most venues, with Langerado obviously being more. That is simply fantastic.
