  5. thill says i won't go on about my theories and feelings about this startling fact at risk of offending but let me just say i am not surprised.... i think women have become more independent and predatory...now not only do they want a nice guy they want a nice guy that makes lots of money. It is buyer's market.

  6. Wozniak says There's a certain prejudice to this that says that being with a husband is better for women. Why do I have the feeling, on first glance, that this was done by some census bureau statistician or noticed by some reporter who hasn't had luck on eHarmony? Or is this just a proper way of saying, "Dudes, there's plenty of fish in the sea!" Where's the correlating study that relays the information regarding how many men are living with a wife?

  10. Peggah says Does this include single mothers? 51% of women living without a spouse, is similar to the rate of a poor neighborhood with many single parent homes. That doesn't mean that they're more independent.

  15. RGM says The RealDoll is a life-size sex doll (also considered a mannequin) manufactured by Abyss Creations in San Marcos, California, and sold worldwide. It has a durable, posable PVC skeleton with steel joints and silicone flesh, which is arguably the state-of-the-art for life-like human body simulation. Prices begin at around $6500 US, with some models costing over $10,000 US. [edit] RealDoll by Abyss Creations The RealDoll is designed to recreate the appearance, texture and weight of the human female form. Owners of such dolls generally use them as sex partners. This activity can be accompanied by certain preparations such as dressing them up in different types of clothing, changing wigs or makeup, and even adjusting body temperature by use of electric blankets or baths. Early prototypes were made from solid latex with an interior skeleton, but construction of the outer material was later switched to more realistic silicone. Recent innovations in silicone formulae, skeletal elements and storage methods now allow for a doll that is less prone to tears and compression marks than older dolls, although they are by no means indestructible. The current incarnation of the female RealDoll product was introduced in the mid-1990s. It is now available in 10 customisable body styles, with a choice of 15 faces and five skin tones. Unusually coloured skin - blue for example - is also available as an option, as are tan lines. In 2003, Abyss introduced the "Face-X" system, allowing any face to be interchangeable with any body. Multiple faces can then be attached one at a time to a single doll by the owner. Spare face and receptacle for the Face-X system"Charlie", a male RealDoll, is also available. "Shemale" dolls may also be purchased from the company, although these must be custom ordered. Abyss also sells silicone body parts, such as partial torsos, breasts and male genitalia. For a time, the company also offered customisations such as robotic hip actuators and computer controlled speech feedback. These expensive options appear to be no longer available, but RealDoll creator Matt McMullen has stated a desire to keep working in the areas of robotics and artificial intelligence. Use of RealDolls is not exclusively sexual. Some owners use the dolls merely as stand-ins for human models in photography or other visual art. Some owners also use the dolls as non-sexual companion substitutes, rarely - if ever - having intercourse with them. Still other owners buy the dolls simply because they consider them to be beautiful works of art. Most RealDoll owners are men but some women own them too, and they are shared by couples as well. The perceived stigma of owning a "sex doll", along with the realistic weight of the product have been cited as reasons why ownership by women is not more widespread... http://www.realdoll.com/ P.S. 16. thill says RGM that just makes me feel all icky. i cannot really see that many women purchasing a sex doll... the article seemed to imply that divorced women are more like, "been there, already been somebody's bitch, i don't need to do that again." i think when you have most women in the workforce and then they figure...i will have to work and raise the kids and do most of the housework???? hmmmmm....what could i leave out of this...

  18. mktackabery says Some factoids I'm too lazy to go prove right now: married men are healthier than married women married men make more money than married women married women may get pregnant, making them a workplace liability. most pregnant women will go down to part-time or quit altogether after they give birth. salaries are becoming more and more equal (in the U.S. anyway, can't speak for other data) and so women don't always "need" a man to get along in the world. Many, many women marry for financial security and stability.
