i am bored. i have mentioned before that i have what we refer to in my family as "rattley boo". Def. : person cannot sit down or relax. Person must always be planning to do something rather than just enjoying the minute or the current activity. i have tried to promise myself that i will hang around the house today and clean, burn cds for people (i owe my brother and somebody else who will read this and know who he is), do laundry, read, knit, etc. It is not even noon and I am already rattling to get out of here....go to Meijer's (a grocery store/ superstore chain in the Midwest), go thrifting (i got a record player for xmas and need to get some new vinyl!), go to the videostore (the Illusionist came out tuesday and i keep meaning to get the matt dillon Bukowski movie Factotum). Somebody posted The Good, The Bad and The Queen on the Mog Multiply site and should put that on and clean the house. And I don't mean clean....i mean super clean. (if you actually saw my house you would agree that it needs a super, super cleaning...housekeeping isn't really my thing.) I have to put a pot roast in the Crockpot. (It is funny, because I am a stay at home mom/housewife people expect me to feed them?!?!) I have been watching and listening to a lot of Muppet stuff. I got the 1st season of the Muppet Show for Xmas. It is so 70's. Does anyone remember the Mummenschatz? The Muppet Show was pretty daring if you are watching it again as an adult. I love Henson's choice of music. Watching it as a kid you couldn't really know what the songs were. I have already seen 2 Roger Miller songs! I love the mix of rock, folk and old standards done in the weird Muppet way! I also had two Muppet Show records that I was able to play again on my new record player. I also have the John Denver and Muppet Rocky Mountain Christmas album. If anyone wants I got The Muppet Show: The 25th Anniversary Collection on Cd and will post it on Multiply.

  1. Hattie says I am jealous. I love anything Muppet. The movies also have some lyrics and themes in them that would be considered risque for children's films and music now (well, except Shrek, I guess). Peace, Hattie.

  2. Zeroskilz says The Muppets are great. It's funny how you mention the adult humor in them. I haven't seen them since I was a kid and don't remember it. But, I have watched Bugs Bunny, etc. and noticed the same about those cartoons. So many adult jokes that I laughed at at-the-time but didn't truly understand then.

  3. lemontwist says I know how you feel. I'm going stir crazy myself. (But I don't have a car or money to go out, sigh.) But instead of cleaning I'm working on some projects with some new music blasting through my stereo.

  5. kristiana says Hey, funny! I watched some Muppets for the first time in a long time just before xmas at a friend's house. They had invested in some dvds to watch with their one year old, Rosa, and we were having just this conversation. I loved the Muppets as a child, and do remember my parents laughing a fair amount too. Yesterday I started singing the Muppets theme song, and Colm (who was at this same friend's dinner party) asked why I knew it - I said I used to watch the Muppets when I was a kid too. "Ah, that's so weird! You and Rosa both watching the Muppets when you're kids!" Just couldn't wrap his mind around that one I guess, lol.

  7. thill says RGM when i was a kid Fozzie Bear was my favorite. Now Animal is most definitely my favorite! I think I was a little bit freaked out by Animal then. Kristiana having kids is the perfect excuse to go out and relive certain elements of your childhood. We are lucky to be able to access so many of the movies and tv shows and music of those times. Several years ago i bought the boxed set of the first season of Pee Wee's Playhouse and Schoolhouse Rock. Lowdown: henson had so many classic country stuff. I am trying to get my hands on the episode of the Muppet Show with Loretta Lynn on it singing One on the Way. Right now my twins are obsessed with Mummenshanz and watch this episode about 5 times a day.

  8. Jollypirate says I got to see the Mummenshanz during their goodbye tour when I was in Vermont. I liked it better than Cirque du Solei, and I even got pulled on stage with Cirque in a big top performance in Munich. But now I'm just bragging. Not sure I have a favorite muppet, but I might have to go with Dr. Teeth, but that's more on the basis of repeated viewings of The Muppet Movie and my current leaning towards "Can You Picture This" as my favorite song. But then there's Gonzo... Did you catch the Muppet stamps that were out a bit ago...the comments on the back of the sheet were actually pretty clever.
