WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

A Musically Bare Xmas....

Posted over 2 years ago
My boring adult xmas gifts: (not adult in that ADULT gifts sense either but in the boring, lame adult way.) stockpotcheese grater LL Bean tote with my name embroided on it Cooking with Jamie (the new Naked Chef book) A brown plain cashmere sweatera gray cardigan The only music I got: Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall (which i have not listened to yet because if i say i am going to put in on the whole family rebels.) I got my daughter the new MIA and Rob Sheffield's Love is a Mixtape. I got my son the Clash Singles boxed set and a synth wah pedal and the White Stripes Elephant tab book. I did get a gift certificate for a book store that also sells records but i have 50 songs left on my emusic account and I was waiting until i see some people's best of 2007 before I go and get some songs. NO MORE XMAS SONGS!

  1. darmuzz says I did not get any music for Christmas, I think everyone is too intimidated to buy me any. I got my daughter the new Birthday Massacre CD. I did not listen to any Christmas music this year...when we decorated the Christmas tree, we played chamber pop like Rufus W. and Final Fantasy (Owen Pallett) and it made us very happy.

  2. emscee says You are such a cool mom. MIA, the Sheffield book, Clash singles...lucky kids. My friends gave me the Rockin' Bones rockabilly boxed set. the only musical gift I got, but with 101 jumpin' sides, that should last me a while. I agree...let's cool it on the holiday songs now.

  3. Wade says great choices for your son! I got a four-quart sauce pan (non-stick even). My wife did also buy a very decent set of Christmas music by Martin Sexton (singer-songwriter) which made the tunes slightly more bearable.

  4. Dale says I'll be sharing my music-related haul shortly. I'll also be pestering your Secret Santa. But the pedal and tab book ... NICE!

  5. gympumpkin says Oooh cashmere???? I keep thinking I should knit with some cashmere yarn, but I can't afford it. I'll have to make something small. You gave great gifts. Can you adopt me???? The only music I got so far was Led Zeppelin I, which I'm happy about. I still haven't seen my dad and stepmom, so I don't know if there will be more music or not.

  6. Shud33 says As sad as it sounds, I feel ya. No music on my end for x-mas and that is all I asked for. Oh and is it sad that I actually got excited about a new pair of converse? This is what I have to look forward to in the upcoming years hu?

  7. Mike the Knife says I was gonna ask if you were willing to be my mommy, but gympumpkin beat me to it. Now that I think of it, one was enough for me. Now, don't go rummaging through your boy's Clash singles...

  8. fistula spume says Doesn't sound so lame to me. I'd jump on that cook book. Is this your first LL Bean monogrammed tote? My wife I know has one and I'm pretty sure most of her friends secretly have one too no matter how hardcore they are. It is a nice thing to tote things in. Wow. I second Gympumpkin and Mike. Your kid's got a cool mom!

  9. thill says I may be a slightly cool mom but not so cool as darmuzz....i don't even know who the Birthday Massacre are!! My four year old twins still wanted Xmas music in the car today. For the past three weeks we have had our XM perma-set to Holly and Christmas Traditions but I told them it is now illegal to listen to Christmas songs until next November. Really. I told them it is against the law. That has a little more punch than saying it would just drive me crazy. gympumpkin: every so often at Michael's the cashmere mix goes on sale for about $3.99/skein. Make a scarf! good luck getting more music. dale: i talked to my secret santa....all is good. For the pedal I went into the music store and said my kid wants to sound like tom morello. It is very cool. wade: 4 quart sauce pan??? that is a lot of damn sauce. shud33: no music??? a complete snub? not even an i-tunes gift card?? sorry. mike: i have already perused the singles...he knows of my ways and keeps a tight grip on them. fistula: i am a big fan of totes and i always have shit to tote around. it is the one with snowflake print though...and my name monogrammed. emscee: 101 rockabilly songs. you cannot go wrong there. I always think to myself i need some more rockabilly but perhaps not that much. my brother is always my secret weapon in the hope for music. he usually gets me a decent boxed set...past gifts have included: charles mingus boxed set and the stevie wonder boxed set. i got him the cd he requested: The Pink Fairies. He always asks for something even I have to ask, Who the Fuck are they?? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_Fairies

  10. fistula spume says Woah. You gotta get that Pink Fairies box. Your brother is dope yo! I got a monogrammed black fleece scarf for a X-Mas present at work this year. That makes up for a year of stress. Not!
