So, here it is, the first installment of my weekly series of song reviews, Eric's (expletive) Song of the Week! and the winner is....
Boyz's II Men's "Water Runs Dry"
Now, I know that this song isn't new or anything, but I have been listening to it all week long, and I'm not sure why. I mean, it's a great song (former number 1 hit!), but I have a LOT of good songs, and this one somehow beats all of them out when I'm choosing the next track. And then, I play it over... and over... and over again, until I get tired of the sound of black men's voices. It usually takes a while.
"II" was, in my humble opinion, Boyz II Men's best album ever. They made so many hits with it (3 number ones, in fact) and even with all of that exposure, when I listened to this song, even with my current distaste for most pop music, I still loved it.
The guys who sang this song are ridiculously good. (I refer to them as "the guys" because I can no longer name all of the members of the group) Also, as a gropu, these guys are seamless. Honestly, I couldn't tell during the song when one guy stopped singing and another began (except for the bass dude. He's pretty noticeable.) Their harmonies send chills up my spine, and because I am horribly narcissistic, I can somehow apply this song to my life at all times. Even when I'm single and not dating, or happier than I've ever been, there's always a way to connect. Damn you, Babyface, damn you!

Someone once told me that it was a very unmanly thing to listen to Boyz II Men. I proceeded to kick the shit out of him and then sing this song. :)
(that's not a true story, but I like the song)

I've had so many bonding moments over this song. In college, I had a ritual with one of my floormates: all freshman year long, when we ran into each other on campus (regardless of the appropriateness of the specific context) we'd bust out in harmony of "Water Runs Dry." The dining hall loved the crap out of us. Another example - I went to visit my mom when she was having a tough time, and this song came on in the car. She surprised me because she not only knew it was Boyz II Men, but she turned it up and started singing and humming along. Our little car ride lifted both our spirits and provided a point of contact when we both had no idea what to say to one another. For these reasons in addition to the obvious ones, I love, love "Water Runs Dry." Great choice.

"Water runs Dry" ... In high school my friend and I busted that out at a telent show and girls went wild, "The nerd can sing" imagine that... All in all it is a great song, however my favorite came from their third lesser praised album "Evolution" and the song was "4 Seasons of Lonliness"

The words really strike a chord with me right now... They also take me back to high school, I had the first album on tape.
