So... I'm gonna be a DJ, people! I am officially excited. I'm learning from my uncle, who is the MAN, and then I'm gonna take my knowledge to the streets, and TAKE OVER!!!! (I apologize for my excessiveuse of exclamation points. I'm just excited as hell!!!)

Anyway, yeah, all I have to do is get enough $$$ together to buy some used tables (unless someone has some they want to donate to the cause... MOGmail me if so, I'd gladly have your children), and I will officially be a DJ. Plus, I'm getting a tattoo. Completely unrelated, I know, but also exciting.

SO, my first act as a DJ trainee is to ask what your favorite song is to dance to. I do take requests, plus, if one of you happens to stumble upon a party of mine, I want to play you something good. Also, you should name me, because while I have a name in mind, I would gladly drop it for a better suggestion.

Color me envious! I really wanna learn to DJ one day. And, coincidently, I'm getting a tat next month. Oh, and I can think of two songs that get me on the floor EVERY TIME. "Even If" by Method Man (I think it was on one of the Nutty Professor soundracks), and "Try Again" by Aaliyah. :) Now, go out there and BE SOMEBODY!

Well, I was a college radio DJ and my name was Sam The Butcher. :D

I'm sure I'm way late on the suggestions. Is DJ Candyman taken?

And what happened to the college thing?

So... here I am, after a long dry spell, back at MOG again for the umpteenth time. Hopefully this one lasts a little longer. Anyway, big things have happened since last I wrote. I now live on my own (and work like a slave), I am no longer a college student (something which excites and terrifies me at the same time), and I am going to, by the end of the summer, be an actual, record-spinning DJ. Everyone I know is excited, and I am excited as hell, too, cuz if there's one thing lady party-goers love to do, it's kiss the DJ.
Anyway, I've still been listening to music since my trial separartion from MOG, so here's what's been in rotation recently...
-Sean Price the man is NASTY. Jesus Price Supastar was a grossly underrated album, and even though he talked about the same old bullshit, he was still doing it well.
-Luchini, Camp Lo Camp Lo... GOTTA download more of their music, cuz Luchini is the shit. They are easily cooler than 95 percent of today's popular rap acts, and the track they spit on is memorable as hell. Plus, it was on an episode of Entourage, my favorite show ever.
-American Terrorist, Lupe Fiasco Man, I slept on Lupe for a minute, but I heard this song on the Hype Machine (best mp3 aggregator EVAR) and immediately learned the words, although, honestly, it felt like I had known them all along. Lupe speaks my language as far as his feelings about America go.
That's it, only a taste for now. I'll give you more in a little bit. There's a lot to talk about.

Hey c'man! Life is what happens in-between your Mog-binges...

So... the last 24 hours have been the illest hours I've ever spent in Philadelphia, and the great part is, _I haven't actually been doing anything._ If I can to be this content most of the time, I might be able to do this adulthood business. Here's how it went...

I woke up at 3:40 to get ready for work (the lowlight of my day), and left the house at 4:15 for the 4:35 bus. I was worried, because MLK Day is a holiday (in most places, anyway), but, in a strange twist of fate, the bus came on time, and I actually got to work on time (early, even). So, then, I get to work, there's not a lot of food to make (unlike tomorrow, when I will probably be more tired, and, thus, less able to multitask, resulting in extra hours of work, and possible lateness for class. Yay.), and I finish early and take a cigarette break. Usually, I'm only the food prep guy, and whoever is scheduled as the barista will come in, put out pastries, and make coffee. These days, if I can manage to make food before the store opens, I'll even put out pastries. Today, however, NO ONE WAS THERE. My amigo, Birdgang, was supposed to be there to be the barista (and open the store to the general public), but there was a power surge at her house, and, as such, she got in at 7:30. Which left me to open the store after about 4 weeks of working there...

note: at this point in the day, I'm sure many of my regular readers (ha! regular readers) are wondering what about this day was ACTUALLY good. Don't worry, it gets better.

...and no knowledge of how to work the espresso machine or where the money was for change. Needless to say, I kicked the shit out of store opening. I called Bird, got the change, made all the coffee (guessing at the roasts, 'cause I had NO IDEA which was which), and managed to open at 7am. on time. As you can imagine, I am expecting a raise.

Anyway, this is just the beginning. I slog through work, being lauded by Birdgang for actually opening the store without anything exploding, and, then, because of good planning on my part, get to smoke my hookah (all legal, at this point). So, I go out back and enjoy, and then go home and call this guy to see about a place I'm trying desperately to move into (although I didn't know at THAT point that I would be trying so hard). He says come by at 4, and since I have some free time, I call a friend of mine. She sez she's got some bud, and we agree to meet at Temple to smoke it. We meet, chill for a minute, roll it and blaze for a bit, but I'm trying not to get TOO high, cuz I do have a place to see. Then, on my way out of the spot, I see my boy Bic. He's moving into his apartment, and it's crazy, cuz back in the day, he used to be the nigga I smoked with. We talk for a bit, and, of course, I'm late, but it doesn't matter, because the guy I was meeting was working ANYWAY (the gods smiled upon my generally unlucky black ass). So I meet back up with my friend with weed, and we go to see this place, cuz I don't wanna leave her out in the street. The guy is cool, and the visit is AMAZING. The place is a loft, and whatever this guy does, he did the shit out of his spot. There's shit hanging everywhere, graffiti, a DJ booth, the greatest collection of books ever assembled by man, and a tiki bar. We chill, we talk about all types of shit, we move a tiki bar, we smoke things both legal and illegal, and after an hour, I have to leave, because much more visiting will result in me moving in that same night. But we part on what seem to be good terms, and he says I'll hear back from him by Wednesday (tomorrow). I'm hopeful as fuck, but not pinning all my hopes on this one deal. Then I came home and passed the fuck out.

That was it. I listened to my iPod the whole way, maybe it had something to do with my luck?
