WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

strange things are happening to me...

Posted over 2 years ago
It has occured to me recently that im becoming bored with hardcore/metalcore/metal/anything related to those. I used to really love this stuff, breakdowns seriously changed my life, but lately im just not getting the urge to listen like i used to. I suppose that as i mature my tastes change, but instead of gladly letting them go, i really wish i still wanted to listen to it. I hear alot of the new stuff coming down the pipe and i understand what draws people to it. I can think back to when i would have thought that two step parts or sweep picking were all you needed to make a great song. Im not gonna lie, i never really felt the typical lyrics for these bands, whether it be the striaght edge friends or die hardcore, or psuedo evil tough guy metal lyrics. I just loved that some guy was screaming out of his mind behind some heavy riff and double bass dums. Or i used to. Im wont say that its because bands today are too derivitve or unoriginal, because im sure that somebody said that about every band i have listened too. Its just not for me anymore. Which is good too, because who wants to be that 30 something year old guy who can remember when music "stood for something". I guess this is a farewell of sorts. Ill still keep trying to find that ultimate breakdown, and ill probably have my days when hard music is just what the doctor ordered, but unless i have a musical epiphany, the days of hardcore/metalcore/metal/etc. itunes domination are coming to a close for me.

  1. mktackabery says I can understand how you feel, but I also think you should never say never. Stranger things have happened. Perhaps it's just the music that's currently out that is boring you.

  2. lemontwist says I find that my musical history goes in circles and cycles. I'm sure in a few years you'll revisit metal and rediscover that love you used to have for it.
