WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm right..

I've really been enjoying the book The Cook's Encyclopedia of Thirty Minute Cooking by Jenni Fleetwood. I just became the first to review it over at amazon - am I the only one who enjoys being the first reviewer of something? I think I received it as a gift, and I'd recommend it as a good one.I bought my first santoku knife last week, which I'm psyched about. It works great for dicing, chopping, etc. I still have a rough time convincing myself to drop $300 dollars on a knife - this cost about a tenth of that - but it is good quality: well built, well balanced, holds an edge. Now, after dinner and desert, and a snifter off my new bottle of Hennessy, I'm ready to hit the sack and dream happy thoughts about a girl.

  1. Jess Horrible says yowza! $300 on a knife... yeah, that only happens in a universe very far away from my own.

  2. theShephard says Yeah, it happens though. Definitely not in my world yet, but I fantasize about it. I think the thought process goes - buy a really damn good knife once in your life, rather than 10 cheap knives. Plus I think the people that really appreciate knives to the point of wanting to spend big money look at them like art. I really appreciate art in many forms, but can't convince myself to spend a lot of money on much of it yet. When I start buying $2000 paintings, then I might start buying $300 knives.. :)
