I've really been enjoying the book The Cook's Encyclopedia of Thirty Minute Cooking by Jenni Fleetwood. I just became the first to review it over at amazon - am I the only one who enjoys being the first reviewer of something? I think I received it as a gift, and I'd recommend it as a good one.
I bought my first santoku knife last week, which I'm psyched about. It works great for dicing, chopping, etc. I still have a rough time convincing myself to drop $300 dollars on a knife - this cost about a tenth of that - but it is good quality: well built, well balanced, holds an edge.
Now, after dinner and desert, and a snifter off my new bottle of Hennessy, I'm ready to hit the sack and dream happy thoughts about a girl.
I've been binging on this album lately, trying to cook more, wondering why I haven't been drawing as much in recent months, currently drinking the last of my Hennessy at 2am on a Wednesday. Si, it's winter.
"Binging behaviors are: Non-controlled excessive behaviors of indulgence in a variety of activities such as eating, drinking, drugs, chocolate, shopping, etc."
I was telling a friend the other night that I'm really attrackted to the trumpet sound on these tracks. I'm not sure what chord it's striking here.. something like "Snow in San Anselmo", maybe.
"My waitress said it was coming down.."
Freshest track on album: Track 20 (that's value): "THE TALLEST MAN, THE BROADEST SHOULDERS Part I: The Great Frontier Part II: Come to Me Only with Playthings Now"
Freshest track title on album: Track 14: "A conjunction of drones simulating the way in which Sufjan Stevens has an existential crisis in the great godfrey maze."

Intersting anecdote - Casimir Pulaski Day is no longer a holiday in some school districts in Illinois. Some of the teachers' unions have decided to swap it with the Wednesday before Thanksgiving as a day off.
Not very relevant, but interesting. I always enjoyed that random day off of school in early March...
So why so much E6 lately? I totally associate this band with snowboarding, and winter's in the air up here. This is the tough part - everyone can tell summer's gone, but we have MONTHS to go before there's enough snow to get on the board after work. So this is where we all start itching like crack addicts, load up Transworld or Amped on the xbox and wait.. Other symptoms may include listening to favorite snowboarding music and watching videos of people flying through the air upside down. FIRE IN THE (DISCO || TACO BELL || GATES OF HELL), YO!

yowza! $300 on a knife... yeah, that only happens in a universe very far away from my own.
Yeah, it happens though. Definitely not in my world yet, but I fantasize about it. I think the thought process goes - buy a really damn good knife once in your life, rather than 10 cheap knives. Plus I think the people that really appreciate knives to the point of wanting to spend big money look at them like art. I really appreciate art in many forms, but can't convince myself to spend a lot of money on much of it yet. When I start buying $2000 paintings, then I might start buying $300 knives.. :)
