It's firday night, around 10:30 and I've just woken up. What a crazy day. Natuarally, the first thing I do after I get some water is fire up my iTunes. I've been listening to this new Minus the Bear album a lot and I honestly think that I have found one of my favorite albums of the year. The new Iron and Wine was good for a few days, but I it got lost in the shuffle of new music because it just wasn't cutting it for me, hopefully when it comes out I will be ready for it.
Anyway back to Minus the Bear. This is the band that I've really grown to love, they change their sound just enough between albums to where it's a new, cutting edge sound but still has that minus the bear flavor that makes them who they are. One prominent thing in their music is the synthesizer that lays the way for the song in the beginning and continues all throughout the song without being over bearing and taking over the track.

I'm horrible at writing reviews, but if you are a minus the bear fan, you will love this album. You even get a little taste of Pink FLoyd in the last track of the album where they use the synthesizer in a more psychedelic way along with their other instruments in the last half.
If you read my earlier post on them, I linked to Throwin' Shapes which has become one of my favorites on the album, another favorite of mine is Burying Luck.
These are all speculative, but here are most of the lyrics, it's a beautiful song in all respects:
In the nightmare deserts start (---?) Outside someone was diggin' a hole in the ground. They were burying my luck. What have you done?
The man in the hole has smoked up all my income. My better day, his for the take. And I watched it all. Him putting hands into a doll.
What have you done?
This (this...this...this...this) dream (dream...dream...dream) wakes him to (to...to) the night (night.)
The man in the hole has carried away the moonlight. Cupped in his hands, and down on the water. He's a patient man. As his careful stepping has shown.
Will he take her luck? (Will he take her luck?) Will he take her luck? (Will he take her luck?) Will his hands know what mine don't? Will her body lie with him?
Will he take her luck? (Will he take her luck?) Will he take her luck? (Will he take her luck?)
What have you done?

I saw Minus the Bear at the Ottobar in Baltimore, MD. and it was incredible. At the time I could have sworn their drummer was flirting with me, hehe.
