I went to see a Minus the Bear show back in November. The lineup was Russian CIrcles, P.O.S., Velvet Teen and then Minus the Bear. Since this was before my interested in Velvet Teen, I found them to be boring when thrown in with the mix of an instrumental rock back, a really talent rapper and Minus the Bear.
The odd man out in this lineup was P.O.S. He came on stage and started talking about how he knew that most people didn't come to see a rapper, but how you needed to perk your ears up and listen to what he had to say. After a few minutes of him spitting, it was obvious to me that he was the real deal when it comes to rap. His first song started off "First off, fuck Bush..." after that, he had the crowd. After a few songs, he dropped the beat and just started into some of his poetry.
I have to say that I hadn't been that impressed with a rapper in a long time, considering that rap is pretty much dead and replaced with hip hop, it's an easy thing to do.
I did not pick up an album at the show because I was out of cash from buying Russian Circles and Minus the Bear swag. I forgot about P.O.S. for a few months, then recently found his album Audition on emusic.
Here is my current favorite track from his album, Audition.

Yeah, not a big fan of hip hop/rap myself. Every now and again a really good artist comes along though.
