Is it worth it?

I'm thinking about getting the new The Killers album When You Were Young. Has anyone hear it yet? Is it any good? Where did I put my coffee cup?

  2. HalfManHalfMog says I truly dispise the Killers.. I think I am the only on in the US that feels that way.

  3. that1guy says I'm not a fan of them, but I can get the album for free, the only reason I ask is because I don't like them that much but I've known bands to progress in the right direction.

  4. that1guy says PS - I feel the same about the White Stripes... I stil haven't met anyone who agrees with me on that.

  5. mitchyd says For free, I'd take it. If you are on the fence I would wait to see what everyone says. I really liked them before they were such glory hounds and thought they were the newest best thing. Now I'm probably going to wait to get this album and maybe download it on Napster and see if it is worth actually purchasing it. As for the White Stripes, I have never gotten into them. I just don't hear what everbody else hears and I have tried.

  6. Anna says Why would anyone dispise Killers or White Stripes? Not being a fan sure. But despise? That's a big word.

  7. LambCurry666 says My take on The Killers: With the release of Hot Fuss, The Killers got beat up by a large segment of the indie/hipster crowds who felt that they sucked; Pitchfork gave them a 5.2.; Metacritic score was an underwhelming "62":http://www.metacritic.com/music/artists/killers/hotfuss/. The band got uber-popular. There was then a backlash where some felt the beatings were too much; some dared to admit they kind of liked them. I got the record when it was released, felt it was catchy but cloying. I heard a Hot Fuss track the other night at a trendy restaurant and enjoyed it. So the following Monday I threw the record on for my morning commute and found it annoying. You coffee cup is next to the sink in the kitchen. Man I could also take or leave the White Stripes.

  8. Dale says I tried to ignore The Killers when they first came out, "Somebody Told Me" got on my nerves for some reason. Then I heard more songs from the album, so I picked it up. It's pretty good, if a bit weak after the singles. For free? Heck yeah, go get it. No loss if it sucks, right?

  9. that1guy says It's the reason I feel the same about panic at the disco. I'm tired of mediocre music being so popular. But what's mediocre to me isn't to others. I don't know how else to put it.

  10. Anna says See I would get it if someone dispised Panic!, they are weird. I like 'em, but I can see that. Killers are normal, just over-estimated, imho. But I see how you feel, being pissed off with what you consider to be mediocre shows passion :)
