MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

Artist:

After performing in Tempe, Az nearly two years ago, Metric came back to the Phoenix valley. Scottsdale's Martini Ranch was the venue for their 2007 Az stop.
This show was a little different from a typical concert, though.
According to Metric's official forum, the band decided to try out some new songs on their west coast dates. Quoting Metric's MySpace page: "We decided to book some smaller shows so we can try out some of the new songs and have some fun in the spring with our favorite west coast kids."
That said, it was a different kind of show for me. I'm not used to being unfamiliar with a large chunk of a band's set list. Nonetheless, Metric put on a great show!
They rocked through their familiar songs with the kind of swagger expected of Metric. The front three bounced and rocked about to heavy bass lines and solid drumming (particularly on the cymbals, accenting many of Metric's upbeat songs).
I didn't recognize almost half of the songs. The band closed their first set with an extended version of 'Rock Me Now,' the only song I recognized from 2007's Grow Up and Blow Away release.
The Set List included Poster Of A Girl, Dead Disco, Empty, Hustle Rose, Combat Baby!, Handshakes, Rock Me Now, and Monster Hospital.
