I am listening to the Guillemots right now. I love the originality of their sound, its like an aural kaleidoscope. The first time I heard it I loved it instantly, and it's magic hasn't faded yet after several months spent with it. The lyrics are intelligent, they feel as if they are improvised at times, the arrangement is sophisticated, contemporary, free. The style? Well a bit of this and a bit of that, accoustic, symphonic, salsa, hip-hop, jazz, rock, electronica, psychedelia......I recently found out that songwriter Fyfe Dangerfield used to live in Moseley, I used to live there too. I decided I need a change of scenery, put a pin in a map of the UK and Moseley, Birmingham was the under pinpoint. I packed my bags and moved 105 miles North. When I arrived in Mosley Village looking for a new place to live, a local pub landlady told me that Moseley was a place full of musicians, drug addicts and drop outs, I felt right at home and ended up staying for 5 years. "We want to make the sort of music that reveals something new about itself each time you listen to it, but that doesn'’t need to be at the expense of it being accessible. Headmusic's all well and good, but it'’s got to hit you in the heart and feet too. After all, you'’re never going to top birdsong as the ultimate pop music. All we can do is try to come close.” Fyfe Dangerfield
