Mark Ronson has just released a re-working of this track, you know... i know because i've heard it - with my ears. obviously, it isn't as good as the original (first) because it fundamentally lacks irony and (second) very few covers are as good at the original - but thats another post.
my memories of this track are of listening to it in the car as my father and i drove towards glastonbury - i think we were going to talk to a stone mason and look at grave stones or something... it was a beautiful day and i had 'Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before' on a mixtape.
Strangeways as a whole is wonderful - Paint A Vulgar Picture, an overlooked classic - Last Night I Dreamt...

dear all, this is my first post. i'm sat in my room in Norwich drinking tea. shortly, i'll vacuum the landing and re-pot the long suffering plant on my windowsill. i think a bit of Al Green, Rolling Stones and McAlmont & Butler should help with this endeavour, ecstatic hoovering and gardening music! My passion for music was first ignited by my mother, playing Jimi Hendrix and Roxy Music whilst she did the ironing. i used to sit at her feet or in the washing basket as a toddler, soaking up the smell of steamy cotton and the sound of Bryan Ferry and Jimi... Suede were the first band I fell in love on my own. Bernard Butler was the reason i started playing guitar and Brett Anderson is the reason I'd advise people to think twice before starting on a ropey solo career... McAlmont & Butler's second album is an under-rated wonder, however and Falling a genius single to treasure. do have a listen!

Having a mom who played Jimi and Bryan is a blessing, to be sure! Welcome to MOG.
