MELT-PROOF AND SCRATCH-RESISTANT

Lent - a day late.. not what you'd think...

Posted over 2 years ago
im NOT catholic.... i dont even believe that jesus was born on december 25th... but THAT is another story... here is the simplist link i found to describe Lent - in its traditional usages... its actually cool to read. (if you are the faithful type of person... if your soul is black as a tar baby though... maybe- dont read it..) disclaimer--->this is NOT meant to offend anyone. its NOT my job to pass judgement, so understand please, those of you who DO practice Lent as a piece of your faith... i do not at all look down on you.((hence the following link))..... :-Dhttp://www.kencollins.com/holy-04.htmi DO find that practicing Lent is very helpful though... moreso than so called 'new years resolutions'.... TSSSSH.last year my *main squeeze* and i each gave up our sweet tooth's for Lent... just because. it was *spur of the mo* kinda thing...he gave up cookies (which he had been consuming on a daily basis) and i gave up ice cream...aka "your mom" (which i also ate like a mad woman on lsd) NOW - *his hotness* hardly ever eats cookies. and i hardly eat ice cream. now - those sweets are very good and yummy and tastey.. and comforting. dont get me wrong... but if you use Lent as a period to 'go through hell' - while giving up something you have been naughtily indulging in... atleast you wont be alone.AND.... if you have a *'lent buddy'*... then you can keep tabs. :-)its a WHOLE lot simpler than having a LIST of resolutions you wont even think-about-once-you-have-looked-up-from-the-paper-you (may have) written-them-on....... and it WILL change your habits.this year though... im stumpt. ray is giving up Energy Drinks... YAAAY!!! im so glad he picked that. they are not good for us to drink.. yea yea i have had a Red Bull here and there... but its not a fetish like his Monsters.... yikes. (lol)but.... me. what do i give up? and seein that it is ash wednesday - im starting a lil late. but i can always start tomorrow - (now) and go til april 8th instead of april 7th...im low on ice cream intake(maybe once a month if that...) ... only have coffee maybe 3 x a week... and its ONLY a 'short latte' now, as opposed to my old 'double tall'.... im NOT smoking pot anymore (dont freak out stoner buddies.. ill be back but not for a while...). i really DONT like to drink alcohol and dont do it regularly... so not much to give up there. don't go through the 'drive thru' very much at all either....what else could it be?? i could give up sarcasm.... ((*yeah right*))cheese? but i dont think that would be good either... maybe just yellow cheese? but i already dont EVER eat 'processed/american cheese'... ick. and insta-sick....at work i eat pretzels and apples... clif bars... and safeway soups....i dont eat anything 'bad' on a reg basis lately... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!what do i do??? i mean. i even BOUGHT oreos... but i have not had them even more than twice since they got put in the cupboard- two weeks ago.i need to stop taking on too many projects... but HOW does one do that? i need to make more money... i need to exercise more... but i AM going to register on payday to JOIN a 12 week 'rowing crew' training dealy on lake union... i could give up swearing... *but uhhh* shit- im a sailor's daughter...masturbation? welp i'd say im def not goin overboard with it so-- ill KEEP that one too. teeheeheehmmmph. what to do.. i guess i could give up coffee altogether. it wouldnt be EASY.... maybe that's it. but i feel like i've already cut down on it so much anyways... hmmmph again. (you liking how im thinkin out loud??) maybe all caffienated beverages? like only drink juice and green tea, water and chocolate milk.. lemonade??... etc. oooh. and decaf coffee... :-D*loading... please wait* ask me tomorrow what i've decided to give up... but by all means... only if you want to know...xoxoxox

  1. teeter totter says sorry for the multiple posts... its so hard to edit - when you accidentally put an asterisk in the wrong spot... and the last 5 paragraphs get to be bold faced.. when that's not at all what you were goin for.. then add a spastic pc that has chronic narcolepsy.... uugh. i hit 'continue where you left off'.... and it actually only takes me back to my page... then i have to wait for it to stop freezing... click on edit... and make amends. then repost... only to find that the 'space' i left infront of one paragraph made the whole first two sentences appear in really tiny print .... weeeeeeeee. this is fun. you'd think i'd just od'd on caffeine or something...

  2. Rawkkiddoh says My brother gave up watching television last year. I thought it was a joke, but he pulled through with flying colors. He said he had never read so much in his entire life.

  4. chucky says I stopped observing Lent a long time ago but I usually went with caffeine when I did observe it. Heh - one year my father asked my sister what she was giving up and she said "wearing underwear." Classic stuff.

  5. Rawkkiddoh says Ashley, thats hilarious. I could only imagine the look on my mothers face if I said that. Seeing I am in the same boat you are, I might bring it up at our next family dinner. Teeter, best of luck to you on that. Life with out coffee for me is a life not very enjoyable.

  6. chucky says haha...you'd have to know our Dad. He wasn't in the least bit upset - he found it so funny that he told *everybody* about what "his little girl" said. But, please do and report back. Haha.

  7. Rawkkiddoh says As in your case you would have to know my mom. Nicest mom with a bit of a conservative side. So much so she thinks people with tatoos are evil, and this is why she doesnt know I have any. They have been on my body since 1992, and I fear that she would have a heart attack if she knew her sweet little teacher son had one. Or three.

  9. teeter totter says oh geez. yea. when i got my tattoo - my dad told me he wanted to put his foot up my ass... he's not excited that i will get a few more.... on a long car ride a few months ago - we were in a gas station. i picked up a tattoo mag. on the cover was a chick with her entire shoulders and upper back tatt'd... i said - my next one wont be *quite* this big... hahaha.. he smiled.. but it wasnt a relaxed smile.... (im the youngest of 3... and the only one with permanent markings... some how i get away with it though) haha. rawk - i like coffee enough to enjoy the decaf side aswell. i just know its so bad for your heart. fast slow fast slow fast slow. its weird. i know im doing something... hopefully goin somewhere good with all the implemented changes in my life this year... i dont know what it will all amount to... but it feels like it should end up good.
