My first MOG post. Yay. So I first heard of Saul Williams when I was 13 and reading anthologies of slam poetry like Slam . I remember clever little sentences in the margins with "Saul Williams" written under them. Of course I became an instant fan.
I caught wind of The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust! when I was doing research for a class actually. Some article had listed it as a Nine Inch Nails album. I've never been a fan of NIN, but when I went to the site and saw that it was in fact a Saul Williams album I had to give it a shot.
I wasn't disappointed. The album was good. It reminds me of a modern-day, harder-edged, heavier Funkadelic album if that makes any sense. Heavy lyrics, creative presentation, multiple styles...
Some tracks were better than others. I was particularly impressed with (in this order) Sunday Bloody Sunday, NiggyTardust, Break, DNA, and WTF!
Here's NiggyTardust:
