MICHAEL HOENIG - "SUN AND MOON"

MICHAEL HOENIG

"Sun and Moon" is taken from the album "Departure From The Northern Wasteland"

Michael Hoenig has scored over 40 soundtracks for movies and tv-series since the 80`s. He has also worked with Klaus Schulze,Tangerine Dream and Ash Ra Temple on various albums and tours.

With Klaus Schulze he worked on the project "Timewind", that became a classic album for Schulze. With Tangerine Dream, he replaced Peter Baumann for the 1975 Australian tour (due to a injured Baumann). Hoenig never appeared on any albums for TD, but it exists a bootleg recording from the tour. This bootleg recording was later on approved by the band, and now can be buyed legal as

"The Bootleg Box Set Vol 1 and 2".

Hoenig then worked with Manuel Gottsching and Ash Ra Tempel, for the recording of "Early Water".

He released 2 studio albums: "Departure From The Northern Wasteland" and "Except One". Considered as a little classic the first one reveals strong connexions with Tangerine Dream's typical synth arpeggios and abstract atmospheres.
In parallel he worked on several movie soundtracks, including Deadly Encounter, Koyaaniswatsi, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Max Headroom, The Blob, and Dark Skies. He also composed the music for the computer game Baldur's Gate 1 and 2.

I didn't know about the Baldur's Gate composing, which is funny because I love the music to both of those games.

I love Departure fron the Northern Wasteland.  Definitely a classic and one of my favorite recordings from this particular school of music (although TD's Zeit is without a doubt my favorite of all the "Berlin" school releases)

Thanks Groon! I will post some ZEIT tracks in the future as well!

But some of them might be too long for MOG to handle, but I`m sure I can dig up shorter versions in my collection somewhere :-).

"Departure From The Northern Wasteland", I agree with you, the album is great! :-)

Yeah, that's the problem with this sort of music, sometimes it gets too long to be MOG friendly.  I tried to find it over at mixwit, which you can kind of use to get around the 15 MB limit (don't know if you've used mixwit, it's basically you make a mixtape--don't have to upload anything, the songs are already online--which can be as long as you want, and then you just embed it into the post, like a youtube video.  Pretty cool).

Can't wait to tune in if you can get it on here!
