I don't know if anyone out there is into hippie-ish . jam band . folk type of music, but if you are you should check out my cousin.

I know I know anyone is going to say their family is great. Seriously though, he's pretty good. He's from the Chicago-land area and does "gigs" at bars and parties.

He has a genuine love for music and was one of the people that turned me onto music at a young age. So... if you have sometime and want to check out something different his myspace link is below!

Dave Roby
(Clouds Are Free is my favorite song!)

Other then that I'm having a bit of a party this weekend and my friend, his brother, and I put together a playlist that is over 24 hours long. Even though the party won't last that long, we took into account people skipping songs!

So yeah, check out my cousin and have a good weekend!!

Hooray! Thanks Moggers!

Last week I asked all moggers to help me find the perfect headphones. Although I haven't purchased any yet, I just wanted to thank everyone that responded!!

You guys rock!

Also I nearly had a small heart attack this afternoon when I read the suggested lineup message boards for Lollapalooza 2007. I know I have to wait a few more months for bands to be announced, but just the thought of Radiohead, Belle & Sebastian, Modest Mouse, or Bloc Party playing on a hot August day in Chicago made my heart skip a beat!!!

Okay enough daydreaming!

HELP!

Alright Moggers I need some help.

I am looking to buy some new headphones. I used the ones that came with my iPod for years. More recently I purchased cheaper gummy ear buds in hope of them being comfortable and staying in while working out. Unfortunately, those aren't really working very well for me. I travel a lot so I have been considering splurging a little and buying slightly more expensive noise canceling headphones. I have been reading reviews all morning and I cannot seem to find just one good product.

So I turn to you!

If you have an excellent pair of headphones please let me know!! I'd really like the behind the ear clips because I think they will stay put better while running, but I am open to anything at this point!

Last night, out of boredom, I managed to get myself over to the nearest music store after iTunes rejected me downloading the Stars album. This album was probably the greatest gift I could have given myself. I have listened to it through a few times. (I'm a strong believer of that, I like albums that make sense from start to finish...) I was not disappointed. The lyrics are great and the music is catchy. Overall it is awesome and I am pleased!

I also recieved two late Christmas gifts which happen to be the two Belle & Sebastian cds I have been waiting for. I've only listened to both once so I don't have much of an opinion yet. I am looking forward to sitting down and listening to them.

I am looking forward to the new year... full of new music, new bands, new albums (hopefully from Modest Mouse soon!!), and more shows!!!

Eh?!

So, I have a blog already. I suppose I could use this to talk about new artists I'm listening to... or artists I've always loved that I rediscover.

Gosh, rediscovering bands is such a great thing, Mainly because when you start listening again you already know all of the lyrics. It's almost like catching up with an old friend. You know what's coming. You listen to one track on a cd and once that finishes you wait for the first notes of the next song in great anticipation...

Recently... I have been listening to The Decemberists. Although their new album The Crane Wife is pretty good I would highly recommend checking out Her Majesty, The Decemberists or Castaways and Cutouts.

Another band in which I have been becoming more and more interested in is Stars. I have only heard a select few songs, but after this crazy holiday season stuff calms down I will be purchasing "Set Yourself On Fire." So hopefully I will have some good reviews about that soon.

The last artist that I have given a chance to is Gwen Stefani. I am a large No Doubt fan. Pre Hey Baby and Ex-Girlfriend I have been there for No Doubt since Spiderwebs (not as far back as Trapped In A Box, but you get this picture). I have loved Gwen and everything that she has stood for. I gave her first album a chance and although it was nothing like I expected, it did have it's classic songs like Cool and Hollaback Girl (which I will still dance to). So being a fan I gave The Sweet Escape a chance. At the end of the day that is all it really deserved. It does have a couple... well perhaps only one memorable song called Yummy. This song is pure gold... in my opinion at least. It's catchy, has edgy lyrics, and a good beat. So if all else were to fail for Gwen she would at least have this song to fall back on... but I am sure Gwen won't fail!

Well, that's all I have for you tonight. Thanks for reading and I hope to have some good reviews in the near future...
