There is a really inspiring page of notes that Steve Lacy apparently took down of advice from Thelonius Monk floating around the web
Steve Lacy totally blew my mind one late night in Vancouver, B.C. In the early '90s. He played with monk early in his career, and for a while played a lot of his tunes.
But the knowledge here must be attributed to Monk. As both a bandleader and drummer of jazz bands, I have to say that this is all great advice...

This is my favorite post of the day. My favorite part is the end: “WHATEVER YOU THINK CAN’T BE DONE, SOMEBODY WILL COME ALONG AND DO IT.”
