The gatefold. The wide shot wide angle shot of the crowd. The color-gel lighting photography. OK, it was released in 1969, but this album for me is just oozes that big concert vibe of the 70's. Maybe it set the trend? Maybe this is the "Charlie Parker with Strings" of the rock world? Would 'Kiss Alive' have looked the same without this album? Back before it went corporate, back when the lighting caught a mist of blue smoke. The only remnant of the 60's I can see are the screaming girls. It's actually a great album too. Freely availalbe in $1 bins at Aomeba I'm sure.

Check out "Chest Fever". Is there a heavier fuzz guitar riff out there?

In my book, you don't get superstar status without some extra bonus feature. Mick Jagger's stellar harmonica solo, Prince's guitar shreddin', Lionel Hampton drumming...

Can someone explain how Jimmie Rodgers does this train whistle imitation? It's some kind of crazy tooth whistle while he sings or something...

DJ RPM says:

He hums the melody and whistles at the same time.

Cool trick.  I knew a waiter once that could do this and he got lots of tips from me just to show me how it was done.
