Juno!

Posted about 4 years ago
so last night some friends and i drove 45 minutes to see thie movie juno, since nothing good EVER comes to our local movie theater. as soon as the movie came on and the first song started playing, i knew it was going to be a great movie, on my favorites list.first of all, the movie. it was amazing. hilarious, sarcastic, and at times heartwarming. the movie is about this girl who gets pregnant by her best friend, and well, i dont think my words can do it justice, and i dont want to spoil it. you just NEED to see it.another thing that made this movie, aside from ellen page's complete believability as a sarcastic, sometimes naive, SMART yet knocked up 16 year old, is the soundtrack.the movie featured some songs by people i was familiar with, but a lot of the songs by kimya dawson/ bands she is/was in. i wasnt familiar with those, but as i sat there watching the movie, it really struck me how much they fit. the soundtrack MADE this movie.and at the end, the two main characters sang a song by the moldy peaches, which played several time throughout the movie.sonds played in the movie:1. All I Want Is You - Barry Louis Polisar2. My Rollercoaster - Kimya Dawson3. A Well Respected Man - The Kinks4. Dearest - Buddy Holly5. Up The Spout - Mateo Messina6. Tire Swing - Kimya Dawson7. Piazza, New York Catcher - Belle And Sebastian8. Loose Lips - Kimya Dawson9. Superstar - Sonic Youth10. Sleep - Kimya Dawson11. Expectations - Belle And Sebastian12. All The Young Dudes - Mott The Hoople13. So Nice So Smart - Kimya Dawson14. Sea Of Love - Cat Power15. Tree Hugger - Kimya Dawson & Antsy Pants16. I'm Sticking With You - Velvet Underground17. Anyone Else But You - The Moldy Peaches18. Vampire - Antsy Pants19. Anyone Else But You - Michael Cera & Ellen Page

  7. kristiana says Everyone's raving here too, can't wait to see it. And of course everyone is very proud of Page, a native Haligonian. If you liked her performance, she was also in McDonald's "The Tracey Fragments". :) Directed by Jason Reitman ("Thank You For Smoking"), written by Diablo Cody.

  9. darmuzz says Loved this movie! The only song I knew by Kimya Dawson was "Loose Lips." Saw The Tracey Fragments too...a hard-hitting movie. Have not had the courage yet to watch her earlier movie Hard Candy.
