Oh Man!! You have no idea what a great thing you've done here!!! This was played often in our house..due to older brothers & sisters and the Folk Boom. But i only had the melody and a few scraps of lyric....and never thought to look it up while i was at the computer....but now I have title & artist! Thank you!!
Be careful - it gets addictive: You find an old song and you see who else recorded it and discover a great artist you never heard of and they have a wonderful song that you love and that leads to... and pretty soon you realize it is morning and you forgot to go to bed. But it's worth it. I'm glad you found the old memory. I have found songs I forgot that I knew.
I'm still listening to them on the MOG player. This is the kind of "Front Parlor" folk music......essentially college kids, with sweet but bowdlerized versions of the dusty old Great American Songbook. They served as admirable access to...the real thing.
Mississippi Jonh Hurt is the best ever isn't he. His story inspires me. He was a good person who loved to entertain people. And honest too - in Avalon My Hometown he says that in this whole world, just one thing I don't understand: So many pretty women in Avalon, and I'm just one man.
Ed, I'm not sure if you know it or not, but if you click on our names and then click follow, our posts & comments will pop up in your feed. The more names you click, the more posts you read, the more you will really enjoy Mog. You can also check under our names, all of the posts we have recorded.

Yes, I know the feeling.

So many songs, so little time.
That doesn't stop me. I might not sleep, I might not eat, but I enjoy my music.
I am so happy that they made Mog.com
