So..I suck at blogging. But I suck extra this month due to the fact that I had to go to my best friend's funeral. Um.. not much to say about that I guess. That one is still pretty fresh, wound-wise. Suffice to say,I've been meaning to blog for a while and I'm sorry I haven't. On to better stuff - I did attend my Eighties show that I was looking forward to all last month. The Human League were even better than I could have imagined and the girls still look stunning. Just hearing them play "Sound of the Crowd" was a highlight of my life,I think. ABC was actually pretty good also. Martin Fry has got some pipes on him! Anyways, all in all, a very fun evening. I've been listening a lot to the new Beck album, and also some old Echo and the Bunnymen. I'm not sure what brought about the Echo kick, but those dudes rock serious ass! The Cutter owns. The Beck album just happens to be one of those cd's that I can groove to right now. It almost mixes Sea Change and Guero to concoct it's own tasty listening pleasure. So buy it or something. Or not. I don't care I guess.=) Okay,I suppose that's all for today. Until the next belated post folks.... Stewart Copeland,MD.

Alright, I'm sneaking a post in while I'm at work. Now,is it just me, or is Muzak the worst invention of all time? I mean, I'm already forced to stand all day and pretend to be happy selling phones, do I really need to suffer the further indignity of listening to a playlist consisting of Michelle Branch and the Lean on Me theme song? Don't get me wrong, the occasional eighties song is cool, but I can only handle so much Santana feat. Rob Thomas in the background. Are you guys with me on this, or did I sniff too much glue as a kid? I think employers should have a rotating playlist of New Order's Greatest hits all day.(or maybe just when I'm working.=) All right, peace homies.

Now,is it just me, or is Muzak the worst invention of all time?

I think i could probably come up with a few worse - germ warfare, atomic bombs, Clear Channel - but in general, yah, it's pretty bad.

And if you get the "elevator music" kind - you know, cheesy instrumentals of hit songs - do you ever stop to speculate on how any musician could Sink So Low?

I mean, are they so strung out on crack or something that they can't get respectable work, like, say as a loader for a mob hit man?

Many years ago now, my forst wife and i were having lunch in a steak house, and i started laughing so hard i almost collapsed on the table (she was momentarily afraid i was choking or having a heart attack). When i could finally talk and she demanded to know what was so funny, i just tolde her to listen to the muzak.

And then she started giggling uncontrollably.

It was a schmaltzy string arrangement of Melanie's Look What They Dont to my Song, Ma...

Yeah exactly. The worst one I've heard is a country version of Message in a Bottle. That one hurt to the core man.

Um, we call this a "break". Lucky me, I'm working alone and I get to pick the music (I went to Pandora.com and plugged in a band I've been meaning to check out - problem is, I can't get to the monitor showing what music I'm listening to, although I'd lay money down the current track is by Stephen Malkmus or however he spells it). Btw, the bluegrass version of Stairway to Heaven is great.

Hmmm..so I realize it took me like two weeks to post something, and while I'd like to tell you that I was attending many a rad show, that would just not be true. No, sadly, I've been working almost as much a kid in a Nike factory does. So shows have not been attended. However, do not fear, new readers. I DO in fact love music and attending live outings featuring said music. And strangely enough, I will be attending a rather sweet Eighties show coming up featuring ABC, The Psychedelic Furs and the Human League. Yes, I do love the New Wave.=) A little bit about myself....I listen to music to space out. I listen to music to get happy. And I listen to music just to listen to music. I make mixtapes instead of going to family events, like birthday parties and shit. But I also make mixtapes as gifts for the same birthday party I missed. Ummm...did I mention I am a complete music nerd and I'm lucky that I have a wife that can stand me? Heh. Too much info. Or not enough info. I guess you guys can be the judge. But beware..once I get to writing..I pretty much stop after two paragraphs. See you cats later.
