While hope is not a strategy, some say that it is important. In that vein, here's to hoping that the recent release of Roddy Woomble's folksy first solo album - coupled with the fairly rawkin' nature of new Idlewild single "If It Takes You Home" - is a signal that the band's creative chiefs intend to save the muso bearded shite for the Roddy albums and will return Idlewild to their oft-amazing post-punk sound.
'Cuz I'm gettin' too old to deal with any more 20-something Scots who want to wander the highlands and the countryside in woolen sweaters and fisherman's caps. I survived fervent Waterboys fandom, after all.
Check the new Idlewild single -- it's not great, but it would've been the second or third best track if it had been included on the last long-player.
For why I care, see this and that and maybe this as well.
