Nature + New Wave = Goodness

Posted over 3 years ago
Back in the summer of 1984, I began to transcend my silly Duran Duran, Billy Idol-lovin' ways to get into some more interesting music of a similar bent thanks to a Chicago television station that had just launched and didn't really have any programming yet. Instead of shows, they played videos that set me down the path to the still-exciting world of unpopular pop music that I love.Back then, MTV had exclusive rights to the videos by many top 40 artists, so the station instead played more obscure material by the likes of The Style Council, INXS (before they caught on stateside with Listen Like Thieves), Real Life, and a fave of mine, Talk Talk.God damn but Gwen Stefani butchered this song. So tonight, we're gonna steal it back. Here's Talk Talk with "It's My Life" from the days before they went all arty on us.

  3. stevegoz says Funny -- there has been a mini resurgence in Talk Talk that I hadn't been aware of, with other Moggers linking to the YouTubes of "Such a Shame" (which I had never seen before) and "Life's What You Make It" a day or two before I posted this. Click the Talk Talk tab to take a peek!

  4. SamTheButcher says "Renee" is a favorite Talk Talk song of mine. Agreed on the No Doubt version. Should've stayed in the vault until the box set.
