  4. Wanbli says The Kristofferson/Cash relationship is a great story Kris got a job as a janitor sweeping floors at Columbia Studios in Nashville in 1965. He met Johnny Cash there, who took some of his songs but ignored them and didn't do anything with them. He got Cash's attention when he landed his helicopter in Cash's yard and gave him some tapes. Johnny then went on to introduce him at the Newport Folk Festival, which was his big break as a performer. He wrote this song in the video for Johnny in 1970. Kris and Johnny would also go on later to form The Highwaymen with Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings.

  5. Anonymous says I've never seen this - thanks so much. I love Kris Kristofferson. He's one of the best american songwriters we've had I think. Just a great way of painting a scene and a certain talent for turns of phrase. "From the bottle to the bottom." "Jesus was a capricorn." "For the good times." And one of my favorite songs of all time - "Nobody wins." Not the most solid voice out there but full of what they call character - a little waver here and there, a little gravel, and a less than precise sense of time. Love love love. It's interesting to see Cash and Kristofferson play this song together. They're reditions are quite different from each other. Kris's is much slower and sadder than Johnny's. Seems they met in the middle a bit here.

  7. Anonymous says I always tell folks that "Singer/Songwriter":http://music.barnesandnoble.com/search/product.asp?z=y&EAN=74644862126&ITM=6 is a good place to start. The first record is his versions of his own songs and the second is his songs done by other folks - often the versions that were the hits. I dig being able to see the differences between the way he sings his own words and the way others interpret them.

  10. Harry says I met Mr. Kristopherson last time I went to Hawaii. It was 97 I think. I was on my way home and cursing the guy in the first class line at airport that obviously did not belong there. Jeans, old Tshirt and needed a shave bad. I got on plane and there he was again, in first class... I sat down when the stewrdess walked up and asked for his autograph. He was on his way to LA to make the first Blade movie. He talked alot about Johny Cash but his favorite seemed to be Willy Nelson. Also on the flight happened to be the Maharishi, the Beatles Guru. We had two of us in a three seat row so Maha came over and spent a couple hours chattin too. And he was not shy in talking about the Beatles. It was one of the kewlest experiences of my life! I guess I could not resist the urge to name drop here when I seen this post pop up! Anyways:) Love and Respect
