BECAUSE THE WEB MOSTLY SUCKS

interesting piece on dylan borrowing some similar words from Henry Timrod http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/14/arts/music/14dyla.html?ei=5087%0A&en=47accfcdb79bd36a&ex=1158552000&adxnnl=1&adxnnlx=1158424394-d0/m9nA8Clb4bhWiJq4GyA

i agree in the part that allusion is literary honor. dylan is certainly no james frey.

I'm a little mystified by the James Frey reference. Frey exaggerated the events of his life to better fit a dramatic arc. Wrong, certainly, but not unprecedented in autobiography. I don't understand how this has anything to do with the Dylan story here. This just sounds like an unconscious reference to me.

What's the protocol here? Do you have to put footnotes in your lyrics?

i thought KB meant that frey is no dylan, or not in the same league. i guess i mis-read it, though only KB can explain. my KC friend, i have no problem with james melding real events with fiction, but that he called it an auto biography was wrong, not worht all the fuss, but wrong. did Hunter S. call fear and loathing a auto bio?
