It's very rare when an artist comes along and grabs my attention so intensely that I fall deeply and completely in love with them. In fact, the last artist to have that effect on me was Death Cab For Cutie and that head-over-heels infatuation began in 2002. So, you could say, they are few and far between.
My new adoration is with Band of Horses. A good friend of mine told me to download "No One's Gonna Love You" from Cease to Begin. So, I did and it was a great track. I immediately loved it. But I was not "in love" with BOH upon this first listen. About a month or so later, one of my very good friends introduced me to Pandora.com. It's this fabulous site where you get to create your own music station based on artist seeds that you enter. By entering only Death Cab, I found many new-to-me bands, one of them being Band of Horses.
Pandora introduced me to BOH's frist album Everything All the Time. I immediately fell in love with every track I heard from the album and proceeded to hastily purchase it. When it arrived on my doorstep via Amazon I was not disappointed in the slightest. It's certainly one of the most amazing albums I've heard in years. Ben Birdwell's vocals are hauntingly beautiful. The rhythmic guitars and melodic build-ups send chills down my spine throughout the entire album. I can't stop listening to it. I recently also purchased their newer album Cease to Begin. It's great as well, but I don't believe Everything All the Time could possibly be topped. Do yourself a favor and check them out. You will also not be disappointed.
Some might say (& trust me, they do) that I have a bit of a music problem. My fellow Moggers will understand that I just love music!
I consider myself a collector. I cannot & will not purchase music from iTunes unless an album is physically unable to be purchased elsewhere. I need my tangible evidence; liner notes, pictures, CD case, track list, etc. Plus, I think my large wall of 1,500+ CDs is quite beautiful!
New music this week:
Band of Horses - Cease to Begin
Alkaline Trio - Agony & Irony
Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes

me too - i still prefer the physical form whenever possible. but i'm also still a vinyl junkie!
We are in the same boat when it comes to music, and hope you like the alkaline trio album as much as I did
Well, it's been over a year since I've last Mogged. I figure it's about time to update on some of the CDs I've purchased recently. A few of these have been out for quite some time, but due to the wonder that is Pandora.com, I've just recently discovered how great these artists are. My most recent (from the last week or two) purchases are as follows:
Band of Horses - Everything All the Time
Coldplay - Viva la Vida
The Stills - Logic Will Break Your Heart
Mute Math - Mute Math
Anberlin - Lost Songs
Kurt Cobain: About a Son OST
More to come.

Welcome back from your hiatus! I don't know if I'd make it a year without mogging. Nice list of artists. What's the Kurt Cobain thing?
It's the soundtrack to the Kurt Cobain documentary About a Son. The soundtrack is pretty good. It features songs/artists that Kurt was into. I purchased it, mainly, because it was produced by Ben Gibbard & features a BG solo track. You could say I'm a bit of a Ben Gibbard stalker. Haha.
the way that ben gibbard grabs hold of people continues to amaze me haha - like people either LOVE him or hate him. that sounds like a cool album, i was huge into them for a while so i trust there are some good bands on there.

I have heard some stuff by these guys, and now I am going to investigate further
I love Everything All The Time, cant stop listening to it...such an amazing band. youve persuaded me to get their new album now =)
No One's Gonna Love You is one of my favorites (currently 39 plays in iTunes). Is There a Ghost is my top BOH song at the moment even though The Great Salt Lake and The Funeral are still really, really good. They're tight live too!
