Sometimes you just need a good kick to the head
about 1 year ago

I'm in desperate need of a good pit right now. Don't get me wrong, the crowd at the Air Traffic show in September was amazing, and so is the potential for every night out to turn into a dance party, but sometimes rhythmic jumping/clapping and/or bouncing around to electro-pop just isn't enough. Sometimes I just want to get pushed around, to push other people around, to lend an arm to help som...

Have you ever followed a band from either an EP, sampler, or "rough cut" first album to a more polished studio album and listened to a newer version of a great song, only to find that it's worse than the original because it's too clean? The Higher's Rock My Body (off of Histrionics) is an awesome and mega raw track that boasts one of my favorite power pop rock guitar solo/band jams at 2:19; but,...

My favorite recent Pop Rock video drop (tongue-twister, much?)

The Rocket Summer - Do You FeelI'm surprised it took Bryce and/or the label so long to decide to make and consequently finish this music video. It's an amazing track and the namesake of The Rocket Summers' most recent album, which dropped over a year ago in July of 2007. Anyway, the music video sends the tone and message of the song quite poignantly, and depending on what kind of genre(s) of ...

    Slagsmålsklubben

As amazing as the Air Traffic show was last night (more on that later), I am, in retrospect, SO upset that I missed Slagsmålsklubben's set earlier this week at the same venue/same festival bill. If you're asking "Who the fuck is Slagsmålsklubben and how do you even pronounce that!?" fret not, because I asked myself the exact same thing. I tried to browse through their website, but their blog .

I don't wanna follow death and all his friends
about 1 year ago

I wrote this blog a while back on a drive from Seattle to Portland, but didn't have a chance to finish it until now. With that said, welcome to my review of Coldplay's latest drop, Viva La Vida.To be honest, when I purchased the album, I wasn't even sure if it would be money well spent. Well, completely contrary to my beliefs, this is one of the best albums that I've recently spent money on. ...

How could a music video with a Unicorn NOT be awesome?

With about 7 more days to go until their debut full-length, Common Reaction, drops, Uh Huh Her just released their video for hit single "Not a Love Song". A "unicorn", dance party scenes, ridiculous amounts of fog, and awesome graphic art help make this a ballin' first official music video. As Master P would say, make em' say UHH.

DCFC @ the Nokia Theatre LA - Footnotes Edition

I've come to the point in my life, where I've written about Death Cab's live show in a way that (hopefully) allows readers to live vicariously through my experience...one too many times. I guess seeing them play over eight times, and writing similar styled reviews close to that number, has made me little uninspired to write about them again in that same manner. It's not to say that I won't do...

Far East Movement's Lowridin': Hit or Miss?

Today on Power 106, "where Hip Hop lives," sung words of "However far away, I will always love you" filled the car, but instead of Robert Smith's voice, it was an electronically distorted (fine, remixed. whatever) voice that was singing the lyrics to the popular Cure song. After some careful listening with my face scrunched in a confused grimace, I managed to also catch the lyrics "you mah rid...

#2. The Cure

It took me a lot of back and forth debates with myself about who would take the runner-up and number one spots on this top 10 list, but after some serious pen biting and head scratching I've decided that the number two spot goes to the legendary members of the Cure. This was my third time seeing them (the first was when I was in the fifth grade on their Bloodflowers tour, and the second was at...
