No Cars Go

I have a friend, who really loves this band.

I always liked funeral, their debut album. thought it was a good solid sound that could open up to anyone. plus, with people like Trey Anastasio saying that their live shows are incredible, how could you not.

Well, I'm not as crazy about them as my friend is...

however, if you dont have it pick up their self titled ep and listen to the song "No Cars Go", its completly different (and better if you want my opinion)

other than that animal collective is the only other thing i've been listening to lately

I really love ambient and crazy sounds. they really add a whole nother level to music in my opinion. Although animal collective can be a little intense and chaotic sometimes, i really appreciate all the levels of sounds they put on their albums, especially "Feels"

You're so misunderstood

I've really started appreciating all the layers of sound that wilco puts in all their albums. Especially Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Yes, that one! I know many people think summerteeth is better. but i stay strong with my decision. I feel its the first time they really came into their sound. sure their old stuff is great, but with all the chaotic beauty that YHF offers, how can you deny.

I still have yet to see them live.

Jeff Tweedy is really an incredible songwriter. He doesnt worry about making long drawn out sonets full of vivid words that tell some story. He focuses on the words and the images they bring to mind. hes learned to really envoke feeling into his work.

anyway, thats enough ranting for they day.

Here we go again

Well here we go again

another post, another thing to take up my time

I just finished a research paper over Thelonious Monk...

Its amazing how this man can be on time while sound off time. This man helped to change the way piano was played forever. You dont have to be showy, playing as many notes as possible to be talented. its a combination of other sounds, including silence, and together all those elements form something completly unique. Monk was a brilliant composer and knew more about theory and composition than many jazz aritists did. Coltrane remembers several instances on how Monk just yearned to teach people...even though he appeared quite seclusive to everyone else. his rythem and timing is impeccable.

If you're an aspiring musician/pianist, you must listen and learn from him...you'll thank me later
