There were only 10-20 people hanging out at Penny Lane when Nirvana made an impromptu stop there in 1989. A rough incomplete set list has been compiled by www.nirvanaguide.com Set which includeds songs like: Floyd The Barber, About A Girl, Paper Cuts, Negative Creep, Blew. They had played the Garage in Denver the night before. Van trouble brought them to Boulder. I remember there van. I remember thinking Krist Novoselic was tall. Penny Lane was a cool place to see them. It was loud in the small space provided for live music. Penny Lane was an interesting place in the late 80's. You had Allen Ginsberg doing poetry readings there. You had Architects Office, Naram Sin and Little Fyodor doing their own greed of muzik. Then you had artists like Ani DiFranco and Nirvana making appearances there early in their careers.

Hey, I was there too. The opening act, Dogbite, was awful. They were way too into the Chili Peppers. I remember standing in right front of Kurt and never seeing his face through his hair. I also remember the drummer was Chad, he looked like an elf and had weird, curved tom-toms. Half of the audience consisted of members of the Fluid.
