I have discovered what I like to think of as a secret of the universe. Anytime you feel depressed, just listen to Head Over Heels by Tears for Fears. If possible, picture the corresponding scene from Donnie Darko, one of the greatest movies of our time. If my theory is correct, any feelings of disdain or sadness will quickly pass, leaving only shiny, plastic coated 80's joy. It really is astonishing.

In other news, I just found out about Say Anything, a great LA band. They seem pretty average, and the lead singer seems like he can be a bit moody and insane, but they write some damn good songs. The radio jammer right now, "Alive With the Glory of Love" is just so hard not to listen to 24/7. Great, catchy lead vocals, awesome harmonies, just a great all around band. Plus, named after one of the absolute best 80's movies there is. Check em out.

I love Danny Elfman, but I haven't heard enough Oingo Boingo to have an opinion. What are they like?

Do they realize it sounds like they're saying "The diarrhea Jane"? I just can't get past it. I still wouldn't like the song anyway, but they had to have realized this when recording it.

I don't know what it is about Japanese music, as a whole I think it just blows American music away. This is taking in the broad, broad scope of everything each country has to offer. It's just so fun and catchy and cute in Japan. Sure the country is really screwed up and generally weird by American standards (check gaijinsmash.net if you don't believe me), but they put out some quality entertainment. Some artists I recommend: Gackt, Utada Hikaru, X Japan, Access, Dragon Ash, L'Arc-en-Ciel and Keita Tachibana.

The only downside to Japanese music is that unless you live in Japan, it can get pricey to listen to it. Even though some sites are starting to import a lot, certain CDs are still really expensive. Oh well. Just one more reason to move to Japan, eh?

Ah, I've had some good times with Dragon Ash... might have to revisit soon.

This is actually the ending for some anime. I cant place it, but I love this song (was it the end of FMA?).

To me, Japanese culture still has a sense of realness. B.Spears and her ilk are complete trash. This is actually musical, which is a big change.

The same can be said about anime. Anime is still genuinely creative and interesting, as opposed to the typical American movie. It makes me pretty sad to think about how poor our culture has gotten.

Oh well. See you tomorrow hopefully ^^;
