I'm going to brief: this is 11:38 worth of some of the most mammoth, bust yo ass funk I have in the crates. In order to avoid professional embarrassment, you may want to wait to listen to this outside the office.

That organ is way,way fat..I've got a couple of their records, but not this one. I may have to remedy that situation..

Cody: Dude, you DO NOT HAVE THIS?
?
?!? I was sure you, of all esteemed Moggers, would have this in the crates. (Well, I suppose "crates" is a figurative term when we're talking CDs.) I sort of go back and forth on the organ, but you're right: this is fat enough to raise the cholesterol.
vannatta: Welcome to the SSE. I concur.

This is some really blazing grooves here. I really like this live capture...it's a rare occurrence to be able to feel the music so vibrantly played - those keyboards are to die for.
Thank you for contributing to the edification of this simple mind.

This is the only album I have by them. There are some truly catchy grooves on this. For whatever reason I have never purchased anything else.

I wouldn't like 'em w/o the organ! As far as getting another record,I used ta think You can't have everything..where would you put it But with the digital revolution, storage is less of an issue.
Saw the w/Scofield and Fred Wesley sittin' in down in NOLA one time. I wish I had a tape of that.

Sabina: Really liked your post on Zulu Nation; I've not had time to respond fully, but I will. Tx
Bartleby: Even in a digital world, there is nothing that beats a great live performance. I agree one of the key elements of this track is that it was recorded live.
Oatmeal and Cody: Perhaps unknowingly, you've hit on different sides of the same point. I have at least one additional Soulive album, perhaps two more, and neither comes close to the fun and artistry of this album. And the key, IMHO, is the latter albums stifle the organ to a great degree. (And at least the second album was on Blue Note, so one would have thought the group's organ-based sound would have found a home there.) So, Oatmeal, I agree if you have only one Soulive album, this probably is the one to have.
changling: Woman, where have you been? Don't make me come out there looking for you. :-) Jokes aside, glad you liked it.
