Hip hop rarely explores relationships, love, or death in a candid, honest manner; "Hypnotic" addresses all three. Black Thought's lyric are at once raw and poignant: can you imagine any other MC referring to meridian points?
"The Hypnotic" also is a sonic masterpiece. Questlove's rimshots snap with urgency; D'Angelo's vocals cascade across the brain's inner cortex; and those bells ring out metronomic quarter notes that mark the passage of time. One of the keys to this composition is the coda, where the group moves the chord pattern up a half-step to emphasize the minor fifth, resulting in a gorgeous groove.
In my estimation, it is a perfect way to complete SUC.

mickimicki, changling, Sabina: Thanks
Prawler: Thanks for the clarification. I was plotting this out in my head a couple of days ago and realized the interval wasn't a fifth.
