Funky Friday @ 7:07 AM

Posted over 2 years ago
In keeping with the 7:00 AM and mixtape themes I started below (courtesy of Madame Bartleby), I decided to rummage through my old mixtapes for Funky Friday.I also decided to maintain the vibe I started with Yukimi Nagano, choosing to follow her with the grand Cesaria Evora. This version of "Sangue de Beirona" was remixed by Joaquin "Joe" Claussell, with keyboard accompaniment by Mark de Clive-Lowe. Joe is best known as one-third of the DJ team that crafted the legendary Body & Soul parties. Appropriately, Body & Soul always convened on a Sunday. There's so much I could say about this record, but I'll leave it to you to listen and interpret it as you wish.Enjoy.P&L,Soultronica

  1. Cody B says Atmospheric, the keyboards recall fusion sounds of somebody like the Blackbyrds, a powerful but soothing vocal, yeah, I'd say that's funky. I have a few Joe Claussell things and I dig the vibe. Thanks.

  2. Bartleby says What? it's already 7:07AM!?! I haven't even realised time went by. I'm not particularly into remixing. St Germain is quite a sought after remixer but I find his works a bit bloated and in my humble opinion always on the easy side. I like this. Cesaria's voice is the key. Would you say that what makes a good Sunday 7:00AM is the heartfelt vocal quality? It's nice of you to make us fly from time zone to time zones.
