  2. Spike says That is one of his good songs. I forgot about it. Chuck Berry was still writing good ones in 1965, it looks like. He wrote some other good car songs like "You Can't Catch Me," "No Money Down," and "Jaguar and Thunderbird." My favorite car song is "Terraplane Blues" by Robert Johnson.

  4. Spike says You're too kind. If you had to listen to my ipod for more than fifteen minutes, you might find my tastes sometimes highly peccable, as anyone would, even me. But "Terraplane Blues" and Chuck Berry's car songs are impeccable! What if I encourage you to build a car songs compilation without me, only because I have to struggle to save enough time for my other lives. But a big source of car songs is the C & W hot rod race song eruption started in the late 1940's. I just Googled "hot rod lincoln" and got this site for you to start your research: http://www.rockabillyhall.com/HotRodLncln1.html. Have fun.

  5. soulrocket says I will try my best on that compilation. good link, I happen to own a couple of those songs & I could investigate the rest of them. I've been posting a few peccables tunes lately myself (the gene moss one is really bad), but it happens that after listening to a few great songs for about 45 mins I start craving for something really bad or stupid or both, but fun to listen to.

  7. Spike says Mogger fairportfan posted someting related to car songs; I mentioned your interest, and he offered this: Rhino did a box set of car songs a few years ago, in conjunction with Car & Driver magazine. Not sure how many disks there were, but it came in a box styled after a 1960s “AMT” plastic model car kit… Ah, here we are: VARIOUS ARTISTS Hot Rods & Custom Classics: Cruisin’ Songs & Highway Hits [Boxed Set] $69.98 CD Got the need for speed? We got the pink slip, daddy! This four-CD box set collects 87 hard drivin’ rock and R&B hits spanning 1946-1998, plus ultra-cool rarities and soundbites from TV, radio, and vintage drive-in movies. The enhanced packaging contains a deluxe booklet featuring “Kandy-Kolored, Tangerine-Flake Streamline Baby” by Thomas Wolfe, the history of California’s custom culture, lists of recommended reading, Web sites, car clubs and associations, and tons of rare photos—not to mention a pair of fuzzy dice. In short, a greaser’s delight! Selection # 75688
