2nd try-out to bring disco music to the masses.opponent #1 - the salsoul orchestra and his 1983 version of "chicago bus stop (ooh i love it)". note: fans of the great british combo "bentley rhythm ace" should notice the "ooh i love it" sexy vocal lines sampled in the "bentley's gonna sort you out!" track. opponent #2 - "geoff love's big disco sound", and his cheezelicious version of "space patrol" (track in comments).

  3. Cody B says Aww yeah, that's the ticket. Do you know how to do the bus stop, rocket? Here's how.. Here's the Fatback band Doin' It Space Patrol's got some nice congas workin'..luv it..The wish to ascend to the skies is symbolic of man's quest for the VIP room.

  4. soulrocket says nick - of course, space disco forever. this is my kind of disco-music. if this doesnt make it to mog i have no idea what else to post. cody- dude, those videos are priceless... i followed intructions and i will be practising for tomorrow night. official disco party going on. that fatback tune is so tight... i needed to play it twice! i agree at the geoff tune, it really works on the dancefloor... and we all search for the vip room. dont they have all the free drinks & babes there?

  5. poebegone says i agree - space disco it is, what other kind is worth my imaginary afro? Space Patrol is surely groovin' it for me, and check out the very galactic cover art, i love it. is Geoff in any way related to Courtney? :D

  6. bloodtea says _ooh_ Danny, _I love it_! These songs made a disco mirror ball descend from my roof - I'm dancin' goddamnit!! my room's some sort of dancefloor at the moment.. (at least it's how I'm imagining)

  7. soulrocket says poe- how did you know? they certainly share the same nose. "space patrol" is the only track worth to play for the dancefloor, but the rest is ok for goofiness... versions of star wars, blakes 7, the omega man, logans run,... a very stupid record indeed, heh.

  8. soulrocket says andréa- thats great.. i mean, that is why those tunes were made for, to be sweated dancing and feel sexy & dangerous & cheap as hell.
    Permalink posted 11/02/2007
  9. bloodtea says Put sexy and dangerous in that... I’m such a disastrous dancer ;-) Every time I try to dance here or at the hall I end breaking something – last time I was joking around with one of Meatloaf’s hits and bang... ruined a couple of stuff that were hanging on the wall, (and my sister remind me of such _smells-like-teen-spirit moment_ every time she come for a visit).

  11. soulrocket says andréa- it is all about practicing, i am a lousy dancer too, but i try to do better everyday... and if that fails i get all detroit a la michael jackson/iggy pop and place a hand on my balls... that always brings style.... that or do the cyborg.. easy to perform too. oceanrain- somebody is leaking lsd in the mogsphere, i blame oscar mayer :-)

  12. bloodtea says Hey.. I didn't say I was lousy, so don't gimme the "lousy dancer too", don't need the hand on balls move nor the robot dance to look damn good on the dance floor :P blood(tea) on the dance floor: (kidding)

  13. soulrocket says andréa- Every time I try to dance here or at the hall I end breaking something <-- that is lousy in my book. that michael jackson video was fun for multiple reasons. i am "lousy" like this guys in the video... and he has a great taste for tunes too. he copies all my moves... the lousy moves

  14. bloodtea says Judging by what I see I'm sure you're such a great dancer - a great lousy one ;-) Oh my.. did I said that? Mog's kinda funky these days.. apparently bugs are eating comments and they've just typed a big fat lie into mine.

  16. Bartleby says Tough call... I say it's a draw both are highly booty-shaking monster pieces... Thanks for this duel of the disco grooves.

  17. soulrocket says i thought you would go for the "orchestra", bartleby... just kidding. glad you enjoyed the cheese.

  18. Cody B says The visual component of this thread is awesome, do we have to wait a whole month for another disco day? I like the way you work it, rocket!

  19. Marigold says I love the "vs" theme. :) In this case I am going on the Space Patrol.

  20. soulrocket says cody- i guess we could bring the flares everytime we feel like it. no need to follow the calendar. i am happy with the results, it was no need to bring any of the more comercial stuff people know well. nick and you managed it pretty cool, those were classy posts and somehow we sort of dignified a music style that deserves more attention. mission acomplished. we can pat backs to each other, we did good and we scored 10 points this time. on top of that i had a great time doing it. mike- i agree, comfrontations are always fun. "space patrol" got some love in this edition. hard to resist that one.

  24. soulrocket says i dont know how much famous "la bionda" were in the usa, but this is classic italo-disco, i quite like it and the clip is a laugh too. quality trash.

  26. soulrocket says hey, miki. euro-disco couldnt be the same without the italian and the german... main purveyors of cheese for the rest of europe.

  27. mickimicki says Just one word.... Moroder....
    Permalink posted 11/03/2007
  28. mickimicki says ...just for the record... the tune I have and loved to play is the Chicaco Bus Stop... "One for You, One For Me" is VERY well known to my German ears though... must've been massive at some point during my formative years.

  29. soulrocket says moroder is the man. sorry i didnt get you right before, now all its clear. bus stop is wicked, cant have enough of it as well. that la bionda cheesecake was a euro hit in 1979, tune is almost as big as boney m - ma baker. they sort of go in the same league. i knew you were german, i was just taking the piss before, heh.
