Amie St.
If you haven't ventured over to Amie St. yet, do. It's an online music store where1 - The files are all mp3, no DRM2 - The price per track start at 0.00$ and rises up to 0.98$ as the track gets popular. If you get a track first, it's free, if you get it later, it's still cheap.3 - The artists post their own music: the labels and producers are not taking a disgustingly huge cut of the revenue. It also means that most of what's there is sub-indie stuff.4 - They, like eveyone else now, do recommendations and friends. You can use that info to find more music on that site.I don't know how long this will last, not all the content is particularly compelling, but they do have the new Bare Naked Ladies album in glorious DRM free mp3s! That's a huge score for this little venture. It's a very cool business model experiment too, and that makes it all very much worth checking out.
