are they always this INSANE?!

Posted almost 4 years ago
I really enjoy metal shows, more than any other actually. So when a good friend of mine said he had an extra ticket to see this Christian metal band, i thought, "why the hell not?"I was mistaken. While the music was decent & the sound was REALLY decent [good venue: The Door, Dallas], the concert attendees were insane. It was as if all of their pent up Christian repressions were taken out in a giant storm of thrashing, punching, shoving, & masculine chest-beating.Don't get me wrong, I'm known for holding my own against mosh pits [in fact, I've started them in the past], but this was a whole other story. I was surrounded [keep in mind i'm 5'3] by big, bald, sweaty men who were so into this band it was almost sick. Living Sacrifice was nothing, however, to what came next.....Demon Hunter. The mosh pit was pushing 20 ft. wide & there were two of them. I am now surrounded, hahah. My beast of a friend is doing his best to keep the distance between me & these testosterone bashings, but it was difficult. & all the while I'm also attempting to keep this young girl from being trampled as she was basically abandoned by her father who brought her there.Anyway, just be forewarned that just because it's Christian metal, it doesn't mean that it'll be any calmer than any other metal show; in fact, prepare for the worst.Much love & happiness your way,Chlo.

  1. Anna says I'm curious, how quiet were the other metal shows you enjoy? I've never seen/heard of a metal mosh pit that wasn't insane, insane, I tell you!

  2. slightlychl0 says Well, I've seen Gwar & Cradle of Filth with the viva la bands tour & Mindless Self-Indulgence which was absolutely NOTHING compared to this show. I'm telling you. It was bad.

  5. brittanybf says i'm sure the bruises were colorful too! you are a brave, brave woman. i've suffered my share of mosh pits. the bruises you endure are constant reminders of being among the sweaty, smelly, hairy men haha--sticking w/ sweat to strangers.

  6. o n e - s e says Hahaha great story. I never imagined christians were that insane, well I always knew they were insane, but in other way, you know? Haha. I've attended many many metal shows as well and what I love about them is the energy you feel with all those long-haired dressed all in black metalheads who appear to be the most evil and violent for the common people, but they are not evil or violent (not all of them), they happen to be the nicest people actually. However I have to recognize that a few hours before a Slayer show I attended a couple of years ago, I was a little bit nervous that it'd turn into a huge riot or stuff like that, but once again I proved my theory, metalheads are the nicest! They use their mosh to release energy, not to hurt and after the show everyone is so goddamn tired but with an ear-to-ear smile in their faces. Like this :)

  8. renegadeRebel says The worst is when you're trying to film the show using a several thousand dollar video camera and people are moshing almost on top of you. Its a good joke.

  9. Sam The Artist says ive seen living sacrifice, dope shows. i have a friend who used to tour with a christian hardcore band called 'the divine romance' they just got signed on to play warped tour. he left the band to work at my church. i think people have a skewed view of us. we are people. just like yourself. we throw down. just like yourself lol. oh and just because its a 'christian' band, doesnt mean everyone there is christian. actually, at a typical LS show, probably half of the crowd isnt. but i personally go nuts at hardcore shows... im the guy up front beating my chest and pushing people (outta love)... i mentioned on one of your other post about the chariot. theyre christian. AND INSANE.
