A kernel panic, a whole new world of Mac difficulties for me, descended last night and prevented a more timely post. Despite the delay wanted to share a new Issa album and track.
Issa Bagayogo, a real innovator of West African music, mixes the traditional sounds of his native Mali with elements of electronica and dancehall. On this latest release he continues to mature, adding jazz inflected horns to his organic blend of roots music and Western dance technology.
The album is Mali Koura and the track, "Sebero" which should be streamable in this post and is available for a free download here, previews the new horn arrangements and sounds he's using. My personal favorite "Tcheni Tchemakan" is a real smoking, or perhaps more appropriately smoky, desert blues deal with some nice touches of guitar (by Mama Sissoko) and piano.
Hope you like it!

Highly impressive. He makes the new aspects of the soundscape sound organic. That kind of integration, as you know, is a hard thing to achieve. Oh, and the track grooves like a mother, too....
I agree with ivylander. West and West African are fused seamlessly here to make a solid arrangement for his fine singing and vocal melody. Any way you could upload "Tcheni Tchemakan" for us to hear?
