I LOVE BLACK UHURU, AND I THINK THAT THE VOICE OF PUMA GIVES THE BAND AN MYSTICAL SOUND. HER DEATH BACK IN THE 90'S WAS UNFORTUNATE BUT THE MUSIC STAYS ALIVE AND STRONG.....................................................
FREEDOM!

Definately didn't hurt to have Sly and Robbie for the tracks either.
That last comment made me think of the Fela Kuti album w/Sly and Robbie holding down the riddims(and Bernie Worrell from P-funk holding down the keys, respectively) You should check it out if you haven't already, because it's pretty damn good. It was recorded in some fancy-pants New York studio, so it lacks a bit of that raw, grimy (yet well-done and professional) production that makes most of his live recordings and other releases so great. Upon first listen, i thought it kind of paled in comparison to some of his other albums due to the drastic difference in production values. But after repeated spins, the musicianship overshines the slightly overdone production and the record stands strong alongside his other numerous releases.
ONE OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL ROOTS REGGAGE SINGERS IS MY FAVORITE WINSTON RODNEY AKA BURNING SPEAR. I REMEBER THE FIRST TIME I SAW HIM LIVE AT PROSPECT PARK BANDSHELL TWO YEARS AGO, WHAT AN ULTIMATE HIGH! HIS BAND IS THE BEST AND I COULD FEEL THE WORDS IN EACH SONG HE CHANTED WITH COMPLETE POSITIVE VIBRATIONS. HIS MUSIC SPREADS A POSITIVE VIBE THROUGH MY SOUL AND ITS LIKE READING A HISTORY BOOK TO THE MELODIES OF TRUE CULTURE RYTHMS....................................
