Electronic Abstractions

Posted almost 4 years ago
For some reason, I find myself fascinated in the idea that people who lived previous to my generation (born in '78) were just as weird as we are today, if not more. In more journeys through hiphop, I stumbled across Manhattan Research, Inc. Copyright. (First commercial release of Raymond Scott's electronic recordings from the 50s and 60s), released in 2000. It is an absolutely perfect example of a man who was far ahead of his time. For example, Lightworks, a record sampled by the late J-Dilla for his album Donuts, is an eccentric, electronic composition combined with a familiar "jingle" vocal, that creates a brilliant mixture of class and creativity... for a listener in the year 2020. I find myself playing the record at least once every time I open up my iTunes Library. Whether you are into electronic music or not, this album is a must have. Enjoy!
