Music that makes you cry...

It's amazing when the elements of a song come together so perfectly that it brings you to tears. Have you ever been driving somewhere in rush-hour traffic and, while waiting for the next shift in position, you look at the car over to find that the person driving is crying their heart out? You think, "Holy crap! I wonder what the hell happen to her?" Well, I was that person crying today, only I'm a him... A fairly large, and if you don't know me, fairly tough-looking him and yet there I was, uncontrollably balling. You would have thought I had just been dumped or perhaps told that someone I know has died. I was a complete mess. Fortunately, nothing immediate has happen that would cause such an outpouring of emotion. No, I was merely captured by the sounds coming from a tiny little iPod... Mentally taken back to a time before mine, when life was not easy for many people. The record is Nina Simone's Srange Fruit, a song about the hangings of black people in the south during the 50s. In this, she delivers so well that it did, and will continue to bring tears to the eyes of many. Even big, tough-looking guys, like myself, will not be able to hide their softer side when listening to a record of this quality. Thank you Ms. Simone.
