I never listened or paid attention to the Posies. Like the Pixies, I always thought, "Oh, they are out there, I'll get around to them," something to look forward to, so to speak.Well, today I listened to some Posies songs and I am totally blown away. That full band sound, those winsome melodies, wow. I like that California band, Rogue Wave, very much and I can see how they must have been influenced by the Posies. Ok, maybe I am talking shit now, I have never felt comfortable reviewing bands and I hate the whole, "sounds like blah mixed with this and that before their last album." That can be a helpful comparative tool in casual conversation but...I hate writing like that crap. Anyway! I got around to the Posies and now I am almost happy. I'm buying "Every Kind Of Light" and I have new music to discover and anticipate, even if it is not new to the world, it's new to me, and that's cool.
