Easy Silence

I was psyched to hear that Dan Wilson's first solo album was out. It's called "Free Life," and I haven't heard it yet. Have you?

I wasn't all that moved by his work with Semisonic, but he seems to have the Midas touch with so many others -- great records by Glen Phillips (Winter Pays for Summer), Mike Doughty (Haughty Melodic), and of course the Dixie Chicks, with whom he co-wrote this amazing song. Somehow his quiet delivery here really nails it for me.

    Ashleyness says I've been playing his album on a loop for a while now. I love it and I think this is the perfect way to close the album. Other tracks I would reccommend you check out: Cry, Breathless and Babydoll. And I really like the idea of the title track too. I've been a DW fan since Semisonic - they were the first band i couldn't get enough of. Here's a pseudo video of breathless for your enjoyment - it's my current song obsession. ;)
