WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

That funny taste...

Posted over 3 years ago
...that is making my tongue stick to my teeth, is the aftermath of gnawing open nine (count 'em) new CDs I got in the mail today. What the hell are they using to glue those stupid security strips on with nowadays, anyways? Reminds me of my days as a young hellion eating paste. Hope it's not too carcinogenic. The first one I got to listen to all the way through was "Audioslave's":http://mog.com/music/Audioslave latest. The sticker on the front touted it as the "most formidable rock album of the year" according to something called Giant (the grocery store?). Forgive me if I don't share their enthusiasm. The first couple of songs were not bad (title track and ??One and the Same??), but after that the music started sounding familiar and unimaginative. One of the songs even sounded kind of "funkified", if that is what they were actually attempting to do. The only other track I got into was ??Shape of Things to Come??. Granted, sometimes an album takes me a few times to really get warmed up to it. Or, could it just be that I've become so jaded already by the 12-ga. IV of great music that I've been mainlining here on MOG? When one of the reviewers on Amazon.com makes the observation that this album has "...at least 3 hit bound tracks...":http://www.amazon.com/Revelations-Audioslave/dp/B000GW8B08/sr=1-1/qid=1160417212/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-0063683-3020837?ie=UTF8&s=music , it doesn't exactly fill me with hope everlasting. The good news, however, is that I got about halfway through HOWL by "Black Rebel Motorcycle Club":http://mog.com/music/Black_Rebel_Motorcycle_Club and it is fully deserving of all the attention it's been getting on MOG. More on that story later...

  1. lemontwist says The title track is definitely my favorite from Revelations. I have mixed feelings about the album. I really dig Revelations (the song), but the rest of the album just makes me wonder why Chris Cornell is having such a hard time making good music after breaking with Soundgarden. Soundgarden + Rage Against The Machine >> Audioslave
