Don't have the usual time to put into a review, and there's plenty of good stuff already on MOG about them, but _DAMN_ "*The Black Angels*":http://mog.com/music/The+Black+Angels are good!!! This is the best album I've heard in a long, long time. Amazing talent going on here, from the lyrics to the vocals to the guitar to the arranging, this is real from-the-gut artistry. If you don't feel somehow changed by this music, you have no soul!

    El Monko and Son says As a huge fan of both psychedelia and grit, I will definitely check this out. I wanged over to emusic to see if they are available there, and they are, so I will probably just go ahead and download the album as a little adventure (its only 25 cents a track). I don't know if you've tried emusic, but its a bit like a cool online garage sale. Anyhoo, I'll let you know what I think after I get the chance to digest.

    El Monko and Son says so, after one listen, I like it but am not yet blown away (although I was reading intensely at the same time). It is a bit more monotone than I expected; with a bit more post-punk type production, it could qualify as shoegaze, which I do like (Catherine Wheel, for example), but is not the music that really hits me in the gut. Still, I intend to give it several more spins to unearth the riches that lie within.

    sedagive says El Monko et.al., it didn't knock me out until the 3rd time or so, then I couldn't stop listening. I find that to be true of the stuff that stays with me - the longer it takes to love it, the longer I will love it.
